Corn oil or Vegetable oil?

Technically its the same thing..corn is a veggie right?

Anyway..my husband has become VERY picky about the oil in the deep fryer and what he wants his food cooked in.

Is there really any difference? And why does peanut oil cost so much? :/

Honestly I don't know, I can only assume peanuts are somehow more expensive to make oil from...

Personally I like corn oil the best, but at a basic level I would gander that veggy oil is a tad more healthy likely. Though if you really want something tasty, give lard a try (note I do not recommend that on a daily basis, but there is a reason why food cooked in it tastes better).

I think veggie oil is made of soybeans. And I think peanut oil is more expensive because of the taste and demand. But I could be wrong. shrug. I honestly don't care what oil is in my deep fryer as long as its not motor oil. lol.. It is a deep fryer.. so yea.. already past the healthy choice issue. Hell, I'd use bacon fat if I had a good amount of it! OMG NOMMMMMMMM LOL.. haahahahahaha

Can you call food from the fryer cooked, wouldn't it be fried? And if fried, then why not good manly lard? /duckandhide

Lol, well, as said before..the healthy choice has already gone out the window when the fact it became fried was brought up.

Which is why I'm wondering why my husband is being so picky.

Deep Fried pickles are more of a southern thing. But they are soooooo good <3!

You take your favorite type of pickle and soak it in eggwash for a minute, then roll it in breadcrumbs of your choice. Then deep fry at 350 for 3 minutes.

I suggest cutting the pickle up in to chunks for better cooking and handling when out of the deep fryer.
