| Recently one of my fellow healers told me that the Burning Shadowspirit Diamond would be the better meta choice for throughput. I've been looking at guides and spreadsheets, but most don't include this meta. Hamlet does mention on EJ that the Revitatlise meta was looking slightly better then the Ember meta, so Burning should be even better.
So I'm wondering, what is your meta gem of choice? If you use the Burning meta, do you feel it increases your healing throughput?

| I agree with those other healers and am unsure as to why we would use the revitalizing meta gem, If you look at the stat differences it is obvious. The most important part i would factor in is the gems that are required to activate.
Since most of our gems should be brilliant inferno... I think thats the int Gem, anyway, it makes more sense to use the burning shadowspirit as it requires 3 red gems to activate(which we should def have). The revitalizing meta gem requires you to add a yellow and a blue.

| I have been using Ember Shadowspirit Diamond. Going back to the EJ resto thread I see that I overlooked the change from that to Revitalizing Shadowspirit Diamond. And then I see that TreeCalcs was updated again, and it looks like BSD was added. Looks like I'll be playing around with that today. ETA Really quick results from TreeCalcs shows that Burning Shadowspirit Diamond has increased throughput over both Ember and Revitalizing. Somebody better at teh maths can probably add something more helpful | |

Foofy foofy?
In all seriousness, I used Ember until patch. I read EJ and noticed they (and still do) have the RSD up, but recommend BSD lower down. So I am currently using it. It has helped a bit.
If you have mana problems, then I suggest Ember over Burning. If not, I say have at BSD.

| I would echo what Foofy has said. If you are having mana issues, stick with the Ember - but if you feel comfortable on your mana take the int/crit meta for the extra crit boost. While it's not a make or break decision, and either would be fine, if you aren't ending every fight out of mana the extra chance to crit is potentially extra passive healing and there is no real downside to using it. | |

| Derevka did an excellent write-up about the Meta gem changes over at Tales of a Priest. The post is from a Priest's point-of-view, but I feel it could easily be applied to any other healer. It's well-worth it to take a look. Tales of a Priest- 4.3 Meta Gem ChangesI personally switched to the Burning Meta and am glad I made the change. Hope this helps! | |

| I can share helms between moonkin & resto if I use the burning meta, but then I have to turn off my helm graphic 'cause my reforging won't look right, lol | |

| Note that my (updated for 4.3) spreadsheet shows that BSD is better than ESD for all mana models - OOM, Duration, and Burst.
That means that even with mana limited situations, BSD is still better than ESD.
